Foothills Drafting is a boutique operation of one – Heather Dunbar! I enjoy collaborating with fun and passionate people to create exceptional construction drawings! This ensures the client’s & designer’s vision is communicated clearly to builder in order to deliver a project that’s beautiful, on budget and on time!

A little (back)story:

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….wait….nope, that’s someone else. Let me try that again. About 20 years ago in a little part of the world called Calgary, there lived a princess (aka: Heather) who dreamed of being a regular person with a regular job. That job turned out to be a CAD technician at a mechanical and electrical consulting firm. During the seven years at her first firm and a few more years at a rival company (oohhh scandalous (not really)), Heather gained valuable knowledge throughout the commercial construction industry working with engineers and technologists.

In the mid-2010s, the princess decided to go back to being a princess for a few months and travelled throughout Asia and a sliver of Europe until the real world called her back once more. ‘Drafting is where your heart is, not some beach in Phuket!!’ screamed the world and the princess listened – VERY begrudgingly.

Living a casual life drafting up M&E drawings the past few years, 2023 took an interesting turn towards the beautiful part of the construction industry, interior design. With this new role, Heather expanded her knowledge to include residential design and construction by working with talented interior designers and skillful builders. She has really enjoyed her year of collaborating with the team to bring design concepts to reality!

Throughout the (almost) 20 years (holy moly!) of working in the construction industry, Heather has gained experience in mechanical and electrical drafting as well as architecture and interior design. These different areas of construction, combined with knowledge of building codes, has allowed her to create thorough, highly detailed constructions drawings for all her clients.

Heather loves travelling, dogs & photography.

She is not, nor has ever been, a real princess.
